“A UCLA professor has filed a lawsuit against the school after he was placed on leave and faced threats of termination for refusing to grade black students more leniently than non-black students. “Recently, I was suspended from my job for refusing to treat my black students as lesser than their non-black peers,” Gordon Klein wrote in an op-ed Thursday.
Klein noted that the controversy began back on June 2, 2020, eight days after the death of George Floyd, after a white student emailed him requesting a “no harm” final for black students, meaning that low scores would not be counted, because of the “unjust murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd.” Klein described the proposition as “deeply patronizing and offensive” to black students.
He responded to the student, whose name was not included, by asking if there are “any students that may be of mixed parentages, such as half black half-Asian?” “What do you suggest I do with respect to them? A full concession or just half? Also, do you have any idea if any students are from Minneapolis? I assume that they are probably especially devastated as well,” Klein wrote in the op-ed. “I am thinking that a white student from there might possibly be even more devastated by this, especially because some might think that they’re racist even if they are not.”
His response prompted students to blast him as racist. A petition demanding he be fired circulated that garnered around 20,000 signatures over two days. Klein further noted that the dean of UCLA’s business school launched an investigation, placed him on leave and nearly terminated him.
“It was around that time that I started to receive death threats on voicemail and email. One email, dated June 11, read: ‘You are a typical bigoted, prejudiced and racist dirty, filthy, crooked, arrogant Jew k–e mother f–ker! Too bad Hitler and the Nazis are not around to give you a much needed Zyklon B shower,’” Klein wrote.
Klein said he was reinstated after nearly three weeks of suspension, “But this story is not over.”
“You see, most of my income comes not from teaching at UCLA but from consulting to law firms and other corporations. Several of those firms dropped me after they got wind that I’d been suspended — the better to put distance between themselves and a ‘racist.’ That cost me the lion’s share of my annual income. The students involved in this escapade may have moved on to other causes. I have not. I’m not sure I ever will…”
…then you tell us: Outside of the former and current Communist Bloc and other totalitarian states like Nazi Germany…
We haven’t…nor did we ever dream we’d live to see such in our country.

Now, here’s The Gouge!
First up, G. Trevor forwarded the following scene from 2007’s Lions for Lambs everyone in the 46* clown car as well as the Pentagon obviously missed:
Are we the only one left wondering, if the likely consequences of a premature withdrawal from Afghanistan could occur to a Hollywood screenwriter in 2007, how could the Beltway braintrust be so lacking in judgement and foresight 14 years later?!?
Next, writing at NRO, Phil Klein sees West Virginia’s favorite son in a somewhat different light, as he describes…
“Senator Joe Manchin has attempted to stake out a position as a voice of reason, warning Democrats about the recklessness of spending a massive amount of money when the United States faces a dire fiscal situation. But whatever his words, his actions reveal his budget hawkishness to be phony.
…To sum up, in the past year and a half, Manchin has already voted in favor of $6.5 trillion worth of spending, and he has indicated a willingness to vote for at least another $1.5 trillion, which would bring the total to $8 trillion. And he is trying to portray himself as the voice of fiscal sanity, because he is not willing to go from $8 trillion to $10 trillion.
Call Manchin whatever you want, but responsible budget hawk, he is not.“
Speaking of the professionally irresponsible, also courtesy of NRO, Joel Zinburg relates how…
“The COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. is ebbing, but you would never know it from the headlines. Bad news, accurate or not, sells. And in the case of COVID-19, it also supports the journalists’ prejudices.
The seven-day moving average of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations peaked and started to decline in early September. Nationwide, COVID-19 hospitalization rates have decreased 17 percent over the past two weeks. Only 19 states had any increase, and many were small. The remaining 31 states and the District of Columbia saw hospitalization rates decline. But that hasn’t stopped journalists from publicizing localized exceptions to the good news.
…The suggestion in many articles is that people who refuse vaccination are forcing widespread life-and-death choices. Journalists appear to be channeling President Biden who, in remarks late last week, chastised “the unvaccinated [who] overcrowd our hospitals, overrunning emergency rooms and intensive care units, leaving no room for someone with a heart attack or a cancer operation needed to get the lifesaving care because the places where they would get that care are crowded; they are not available.”
Yet, while the unvaccinated may be foolish or misinformed, there is little evidence they have crowded out others. Some people delayed necessary care during the pandemic, but that was usually the result of fear, exacerbated by stay-at-home orders and other lockdown measures. Few if any people were unable to obtain emergency care if they sought it out.
Anyone who has worked in a hospital knows that ICU beds are a scarce resource and that ICU physicians often need to choose which sick patients get available beds and which do not. Perhaps the pandemic has made these choices more acute in limited locations for limited amounts of time. But triaging ICU patients is not a new phenomenon.
Distorting the news to censure the unvaccinated is unhelpful and unwarranted. (And, outside of Communist countries and Nazi Germany, unprecedented in a free country!)The unvaccinated are primarily harming themselves. Unfortunately, many media outlets are misleading us all.“
“…In a Wednesdayletterto Biden, the National School Boards Association asked that the federal government examine whether actions can be taken to stop the vitriol and violence using the Gun-Free School Zones Act and the Patriot Act, the controversial statute enacted after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
The request comes amid a culture war that has prompted some school officials to resign or not seek re-election.
“Coupled with attacks against school board members and educators for approving policies for masks to protect the health and safety of students and school employees, many public school officials are also facing physical threats because of propaganda purporting the false inclusion of critical race theory within classroom instruction and curricula,” the letter signed by NSBA President Viola Garcia and Chip Slaven, the group’s interim executive director and CEO, states.
In addition, the NSBA asked for a review of threats and violence under the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, the Violent Interference with Federally Protected Rights statute, and the Conspiracy Against Rights statute…”
As the Washington Times notes:
“Their purpose was to warn our addled President that our nation’s schools are under the imminent threat of “domestic terrorism.”“
In keeping with the atmosphere which allowed our opening item, thus are parents demanding to have a say in their children’s education labeled “domestic terrorists”. Wake up and smell the Dimocratic despotism, America!!!
Moving on, here’s a quartet of specially selected items certain to cater to inquiring Conservative minds:
(4). In a commentary at NRO, Carine Hajjar wonders do universities still care about truth? Spoiler Alert: They don’t, at least not truth as we know it. For as we’ve often observed, truth to a Progressive is like…
Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:
Then there’s these from the lovely Shannon…

We’re heading south to Kiawah Island on a golf trip this week and will likely be radio silent until Monday the 11th. So ’til then…

Tales of The Darkside
Tucker highlights the insanity possesses so much of the populace. As Romans 1:21,22 says, “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.”
