Since we’re on the subject of Progressive hypocrisy of the rankest variety, here’s a photo taken in Harry’s Bar, a famous Venice bistro (that’s the one in Italy, not California) this past weekend.
Yes, from left to right above, that’s those champions of the common man and illegal aliens yearning to breath free for free Hank “Guam Gonna Capsize” Johnson, John Lewis, Sheila Jackson Lee, Nancy Pelosi, Ilhan Omar and Barbara Lee, stopping off to refresh themselves on their way to Ghana via Venice (who filed THAT flight plan?!?) to commemorate the 400th anniversary of slavery in America.
As contributor Arthur Seeligson noted, Venice is right on the way to Ghana from Washington, D.C., at least…
…if you pretend to be calling on the U.S. Africa Command in nearby Vicenza rather than just wanting to visit Venice…and a plain risotto at Harry’s is only 80 euros! So hey, why not, particularly as THEY ain’t paying for it!
At least our Representative, the Dishonorable Elijah Cummings, wasn’t in attendance. We’re certain he was hard at work in the heart of his home district, giving far more pressing matters his personal attention:
We find it particularly rich Omar was on this trip. Think about it: she came to America (which she now hates) to escape Somalia. Now she’s returning to Africa, which she fled, to commemorate the 400th anniversary (albeit inaccurate) of slavery in America, which she hates, in Africa, which she fled, a continent on which that peculiar institution still flourishes today.

Speaking of Elijah Cummings, a career politician who, as best as we can determine, has never done squat for anyone but himself, his second wife and his largest campaign contributors, we’re dedicating most of this edition to his dustup with The Donald.
As always, we report, you decide…though we will drop the occasional breadcrumb to help you reach the correct conclusion.
First up, it’s not like rats haven’t been a problem in Baltimore for years, as these two local newscasts confirm:
Then again, the reek Catherine Pugh identified may have been the odor of her own corruption, as she was shortly to join a long list of Baltimore “leaders” forced from office for various forms of malfeasance, including Nancy Pelosi’s brother.
Hells bells, even Bernie got it…
…though Sanders would undoubtedly have concluded the problem doesn’t lie with the choices Baltimorons at every level have made over the last almost five decades, but rather the federal government just hasn’t thrown enough of our money at the problem.
Is anyone else detecting a pattern of cause and effect here? Pardon us while we drop a few breadcrumbs.
First, the cause, or perhaps more accurately, the four most recent causes:
(1). Elijah Cummings, who has represented the worst parts of Baltimore in Congress since 1996 after serving 13 years as a Maryland State Representative; i.e., the consummate career politician.
(2). Sheila Dixon, who was forced to resign as Mayor of Baltimore following convictions for theft of a $500 gift card from Best Buy and perjury.
(3). Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who succeeded Dixon but then declined to run for another term after suggesting, in the midst of the 2015 riot, police should give “those who wished to destroy space to do that”.
Rawlings-Blake correctly concluded, were she to run for another term, voters would give her space…out to pasture.
(4). Catherine Pugh, who succeeded Rawlings-Blake, but only after defeating Sheila Dixon…yes, THAT Sheila Dixon…in a very close contest in the Dimocratic primary. Pugh was subsequently forced to resign after it was discovered the University of Maryland Hospital system, on whose board Pugh sat, purportedly purchased some 20,000 copies ($500,000 worth) of her Healthy Holly book…
…despite the hospital’s inability to locate the books, and Pugh’s lack of training or any expertise in either exercise or nutrition.

And, most infamously, the Sheriff Bart debacle:
Seriously, we ask again: is anyone detecting a pattern here?
Here’s the juice: HE‘s corrupt, the CITY‘s corrupt; after all, it’s been under one-party rule since 1967, and Trump is simply highlighting what everyone else already knows.
Moreover, his critique is only offered in response to Cummings’s premeditated prevarications about conditions on our southern border, along with his unwarranted, partisan tirades against both Trump and the Border Patrol:
Need we mention conditions at the border are the direct result of Dimocratic action andinaction?!?
We’ll leave it to our old friend and Navy classmate Jim Gould to sum up the situation: Bernie Sanders said Baltimore has a rat infestation problem; at least two Mayors of Baltimore said Baltimore has a rat infestation problem; PBS did a documentary on the rat infestation problem in Baltimore. Now Trump says there’s a rat infestation problem in Baltimore, and HE‘s a RACIST!!!
In a related item, writing at NRO, Dennis Prager tells us…
“Every non-liberal leftist — that is, nearly every Democrat running for president, New York Times and Washington Post columnist, CNN and MSNBC host, and your left-wing brother-in-law — labels every Trump supporter and, of course, President Donald Trump, a “racist.”
And they don’t stop there. Leftists don’t only label the half of the country that supports the president “racist,” they label all whites and America itself “racist.” If your son or daughter attends or recently attended an American university, it is close to certain he or she was repeatedly told that America and all whites are racist. According to the Left, whites are divided between those who admit they are racist and those who don’t admit it.
Every conservative and many liberals know this is a big lie. The great question is: Do leftists believe it? It is impossible to know. But this we do know: If you repeat something often enough, and if your weltanschauung (worldview) and that which gives your life meaning are dependent upon believing something, you will eventually believe it.
So here is a way to show it is a lie.
Ask any white conservative, including one who supports Trump, the following three questions:
1) Do you have more in common with, and are you personally more comfortable in the company of, a white leftist or a black conservative?
2) Would you rather have nine white leftists or nine black conservatives on the U.S. Supreme Court?
3) Would you rather your child marry a black Christian conservative or a white non-Christian liberal?
A white racist would prefer the whites in each case.
I have asked these questions of thousands of Trump supporters at lectures and on my radio show. Not once has a white Trump-supporting conservative said he or she would be more comfortable in the presence of a white leftist than a black conservative, or would prefer an all-white liberal Supreme Court to an all-black conservative Supreme Court.Not once has a white Christian conservative said he or she would prefer their child marry a white non-Christian liberal to a black Christian conservative.
If you’re an honest leftist (in addition to being a truly endangered species!), this should present a powerful challenge to your belief that all white conservatives are racist. But it won’t…”
First of all, locating an honest Leftist is like finding a virgin in a maternity ward. Second, modern Progressive dogma is akin to a game of Jenga at the point in which removing any single block will bring the entire stack crashing down.
Thus must (i) the killing of babies remain an issue of “reproductive freedom” and/or a “woman’s right to choose”; (ii) uncontrolled illegal immigration into and healthcare provided by the United States become a “human right”; (iii) any words which offend anyone constitute “hate speech”; and, (iv) any non-woke Whites, including those who voted not for Trump but against Hillary, are by definition racists.
If they admit to lying on one, they admit to lying about everything. And anything else they’ve ever claimed becomes open to question; and they don’t have any answers!
Moving on, courtesy of the WSJ, noted China expert Gordon Chang reveals why…

And that, friends, would be about as beneficial to the world as Obama’s Iran deal was to the long-term preservation of peace in the Middle East.
