“…Gary Montez Martin, the man who opened fire inside a manufacturing company in Aurora, Illinois, legally should not have been in possession of a firearm, police said on Saturday.
…On Saturday, [Chief of Police] Ziman said that Martin, 45, purchased a handgun on March 6, 2014, after being issued an Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card in January of that year. The firearm, a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber, was in Martin’s possession as of March 11, 2014.The FOID card application process includes a background check, but applicants are not fingerprinted, Ziman said.
It was only when Martin applied for a concealed carry permit on March 16, 2014, that he was fingerprinted and it was revealed he had a 1995 felony conviction for aggravated assault in Mississippi.Ziman said that upon the discovery of this conviction, Martin’s concealed carry permit was rejected and his FOID card was revoked. “Absolutely he was not supposed to be in possession of a firearm,” Ziman said.
Chief Ziman added that Martin was mailed a letter noting that his FOID card had been revoked due to the felony charge and that he was required to turn over his handgun to police. Was there a follow-up?That remains to be seen…”
Thus, like so many mass-shooters before him, despite countless statutes to the contrary, Martin, a convicted felon (and thus, by definition, a lawbreaker), simply ignored some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country and maintained possession of his pistol.
Still, in an effort just as effective as the Titanic‘s Second Officer Charles Lightoller advising his watch replacement, First Officer William Murdoch, to “be alert for icebergs”, Illinois authorities DID send him a letter!
And if the reputation of the Windy City hasn’t been justly besmirched enough, Townhall.com‘s Matt Vespa again informs us that…
Color us unsurprised…and solidly of the opinion Smollett deserves to do some serious time behind bars; “butt” in solitary confinement, lest he actually enjoy the experience.
As for all the Progressives presidential candidates, pundits and MSM “journalists” who (as can be seen in the video forwarded by Bill Meisen accessible through this link) prematurely opted for the politics of divisiveness rather than waiting for the facts, we won’t hold our breath allowing them time to apologize, let alone admit their egregious error.

Which brings us to Marc Thiessen’s interview with FOX News, as the WaPo reporter highlights how AOC still doesn’t grasp the basic ABC’s she should have learned in ECON 101:
“…“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a wrecking ball inside the Democratic Party,” Thiessen said.“And as a conservative, I’m sitting here with popcorn watching it happen.”
…He said this is more evidence that Ocasio-Cortez is “economically illiterate,” pointing to her comments in aYahoo News story:
We were subsidizing those jobs. The city was paying for those jobs. Frankly, if we were willing to give away $3 billion dollars for this deal, we could invest those $3 billion in our district, ourselves, if we wanted to. We could hire out more teachers. We can fix our subways. We can put a lot of people to work for that amount of money if we wanted to.
“There’s no $3 billion dollars,” Thiessen said. “It’s not that there was a cash subsidy to Amazon, they were tax incentives. So literally, she doesn’t understand that there’s not $3 billion dollars. Amazon took the $3 billion dollars away with it, along with 25,000 jobs.”
He said the lesson for Amazon is that they should do their business in red states where they won’t face “crazy” opposition like this. “And the lesson for America is: If you like this, you’ll love the Green New Deal.”…”
“If there’s a downturn between now and 2020, possibly even the U.S. Congress might have to do without the services of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, now bragging about her success in killing Amazon jobs.“
