It’s Monday, October 22nd, 2018…but before we begin, courtesy of Dave Ward, a video so funny we’re willing to risk the wrath of TLJ but headlining it:
Just in case you’re wondering, as we married far above our head, we’d have gone with “A” before the questioner ever got to “B”!
Now, here’s The Gouge!
First up, courtesy of The Washington Times, this forward from Jeff Foutch demonstrates the latest manufactured “migrant” caravan isn’t the only way Progressives are looking to use illegal aliens to subvert The Constitution:
“The Texas Democratic Party asked non-citizens to register to vote, sending out applications to immigrants with the box citizenship already checked “Yes,” according to new complaints filed Thursday asking prosecutors to see what laws may have been broken.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation alerted district attorneys and the federal Justice Department to the pre-checked applications, and also included a signed affidavit from a man who said some of his relatives, who aren’t citizens, received the mailing.
“This is how the Texas Democratic Party is inviting foreign influence in an election in a federal election cycle,” said Logan Churchwell, spokesman for the PILF, a group that’s made its mark policing states’ voter registration practices.
The Texas secretary of state’s office said it, too, had gotten complaints both from immigrants and from relatives of dead people who said they got mailings asking them to register. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott vowed to investigate. “If true there will be serious consequences,” he said…”
Yeah,…that’s what Republicans always say, even though the vast majority of Americans…as well as most legal immigrants…are on the side of Lady Liberty:
Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, it’s the SS/DD, as House Republicans once again fail to effectively enforce the authority granted them under the Constitution:
“Nellie Ohr, the wife of Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, claimed spousal privilege on Friday in order to avoid certain questions from House Republicans about the controversial anti-Trump dossier.
While describing her as cooperative in the voluntary appearance, Republican and Democratic lawmakers told Fox News that Ohr took spousal privilege, which Republicans said did not allow them to get to core questions about the salacious dossier, and how it got into the hands of the FBI…”
How on earth could Republican lawmakers characterize Ohr invoking spousal privilege as “cooperative”?!? And WTF wasn’t she there under subpoena, which would allow Speaker Ryan to incarcerate Ohr in the House jail should she refuse to answer questions?!? Yeah,…
…see “Lerner, Lois” and “Boehner, John”.
Then there’s this insightful exposé from the WSJ, as David Gelernter relates…
“Every big U.S. election is interesting, but the coming midterms are fascinating for a reason most commentators forget to mention: The Democrats have no issues. The economy is booming and America’s international position is strong. In foreign affairs, the U.S. has remembered in the nick of time what Machiavelli advised princes five centuries ago: Don’t seek to be loved, seek to be feared.
The contrast with the Obama years must be painful for any honest leftist. (Now THAT’S a bird of rare plumage!)For future generations, the Kavanaugh fight will stand as a marker of the Democratic Party’s intellectual bankruptcy, the flashing red light on the dashboard that says “Empty.” The left is beaten. (Which is why they continually seek to illegally import more voters!)
This has happened before, in the 1980s and ’90s and early 2000s, but then the financial crisis arrived to save liberalism from certain destruction. Today leftists pray that Robert Mueller will put on his Superman outfit and save them again.
For now, though, the left’s only issue is “We hate Trump.” This is an instructive hatred, because what the left hates about Donald Trump is precisely what it hates about America. The implications are important, and painful.
…Mr. Trump lacks constraints because he is filthy rich and always has been and, unlike other rich men, he revels in wealth and feels no need to apologize—ever. He never learned to keep his real opinions to himself because he never had to. He never learned to be embarrassed that he is male, with ordinary male proclivities. Sometimes he has treated women disgracefully, for which Americans, left and right, are ashamed of him—as they are of JFK and Bill Clinton.
But my job as a voter is to choose the candidate who will do best for America. I am sorry about the coarseness of the unconstrained average American that Mr. Trump conveys. That coarseness is unpresidential and makes us look bad to other nations. On the other hand, many of his opponents worry too much about what other people think. I would love the esteem of France, Germany and Japan. But I don’t find myself losing sleep over it.
The difference between citizens who hate Mr. Trump and those who can live with him—whether they love or merely tolerate him—comes down to their views of the typical American: the farmer, factory hand, auto mechanic, machinist, teamster, shop owner, clerk, software engineer, infantryman, truck driver, housewife. The leftist intellectuals I know say they dislike such people insofar as they tend to be conservative Republicans.
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama know their real sins. They know how appalling such people are, with their stupid guns and loathsome churches. They have no money or permanent grievances to make them interesting and no Twitter followers to speak of. They skip Davos every year and watch Fox News. Not even the very best has the dazzling brilliance of a Chuck Schumer, not to mention a Michelle Obama. In truth they are dumb as sheep.
Mr. Trump reminds us who the average American really is. Not the averagemale American, or the average white American. We know for sure that, come 2020, intellectuals will be dumbfounded at the number of women and blacks who will vote for Mr. Trump. He might be realigning the political map: plain average Americans of every type vs. fancy ones.
Many left-wing intellectuals are counting on technology to do away with the jobs that sustain all those old-fashioned truck-driver-type people, but they are laughably wide of the mark. It is impossible to transport food and clothing, or hug your wife or girl or child, or sit silently with your best friend, over the internet.Perhaps that’s obvious, but to be an intellectual means nothing is obvious. Mr. Trump is no genius, but if you have mastered the obvious and add common sense, you are nine-tenths of the way home. (Scholarship is fine, but the typical modern intellectual cheapens his learning with politics, and is proud to vary his teaching with broken-down left-wing junk.)
This all leads to an important question—one that will be dismissed indignantly today, but not by historians in the long run: Is it possible to hate Donald Trump but not the average American?
…Those who voted for Mr. Trump, and will vote for his candidates this November, worry about the nation, not its image. The president deserves our respect because Americans deserve it—not such fancy-pants extras as network commentators, socialist high-school teachers and eminent professors, but the basic human stuff that has made America great, and is making us greater all the time.“
If we might invoke the memory of the late, great Rodney Dangerfield, Trump is part the embodiment of Thornton Mellon taking on the elitist Professor Philip Barbay in Back to School…
…and part Monte Capuletti confronting the snobbish and effete Clive Barlow in Easy Money:
In other words, he’s John Q. Average Citizen…or at least the way John Q. Average Citizen wishes he was!
Which brings us to The Lighter Side:
Then there’s this series of rather humorous memes courtesy of Brendan Clark, Larry Hoffman, Balls Cotton and our sister-in law Amy:
Moving on to another sordid story straight from the pages of The Crime Blotter, we learn of a…
“A man has been ‘stoned to death’ by a group of “rogue” monkeys who threw bricks at him from a tree, according to reports. Dharampal Singh, 72, suffered head and chest injuries in the attack and was later pronounced dead in hospital. Mr Singh was collecting pieces of dry wood when the group of monkeys launched their attack on Thursday.
It is believed the monkeys had armed themselves with bricks they had collected earlier from a run down building nearby in Tikri, Uttar Pradesh.Villagers have repeatedly complained that aggressive monkeys in the area have made their lives hell, but the animals are a protected species so little can be done.
…Mr Singh’s brother Krishnapal told The Times of India: “Monkeys threw more than 20 bricks at Dharampal on Thursday. “Thrown from quite a height, the bricks were enough to kill him. These rogue monkeys are the real culprits and must pay for it.”
Mr Singh’s family has lodged a formal complaint and named monkeys as the accused but police insisted they cannot prosecute monkeys and have declared Mr Singh’s death was an accident. Chitwan Singh, station officer at Doghat police station, said: “How can we register the case against monkeys? This will make us a laughing stock.”
Deadly attacks by monkeys have been on rise throughout the country and wildlife experts say that rhesus macaques are usually to blame – although it is not clear which breed attacked Mr Singh. Back in 2007 the deputy mayor of India’s capital of Delhi died after being attacked by a horde of wild monkeys…”
Finally, since we’re on the subject of malevolent mammals of undetermined heredity, we’ll call it a day with News of the Bizarre, as we learn…
