…for which no one will ever likely be arrested, yet alone prosecuted.
Are we the only one who finds it more than curious the WaPo could obtain and publish transcripts of The Donald’s classified Oval Office conversations, yet was never able to uncover certified copies of either Barry’s birth certificate or scholastic record?!?
In a related item, the WSJ‘s Kimberly Strassel echoes a story we brought you on Monday which was first broken by The Daily Caller:
“Look, up in the sky; it’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s the Russo-Trump collusion scandal!”
“Imran Awan was arrested at Dulles International Airport July 24, while attempting to board a flight to Pakistan. For more than a decade the congressional staffer had worked under top House Democrats, and he had just been accused by the FBI of bank fraud.
It was a dramatic moment in a saga that started in February, when Capitol Police confirmed an investigation into Mr. Awan and his family on separate accusations of government theft. The details are tantalizing(to everyone but the MSM, which has thus far completely dismissed the story out of hand!): The family all worked for top Democrats, were paid huge sums, and had access to sensitive congressional data, even while having ties to Pakistan.
The media largely has ignored the affair, the ho-hum coverage summed up by a New York Times piece suggesting it may be nothing more than an “overblown Washington story, typical of midsummer.”But even without evidence of espionage or blackmail, this ought to be an enormous scandal.
Because based on what we already know, the Awan story is—at the very least—a tale of massive government incompetence that seemingly allowed a family of accused swindlers to bilk federal taxpayers out of millions and even put national secrets at risk.In a more accountable world, House Democrats would be forced to step down.
…Imran Awan has pleaded not guilty to bank fraud. The law office representing him issued a statement casting the investigation as “part of a frenzy of anti-Muslim bigotry in the literal heart of our democracy.” It calls the accusations “utterly unsupported, outlandish, and slanderous.”
Yes, it is weird that Ms. Wasserman Schultz continued to shield Imran Awan to the end. Yes, the amounts of money, and the ties to Pakistan, are strange.Yes, it is alarming that emails show Imran Awan knew Ms. Wasserman Schultz’s iPad password, and that the family might have had wider access to the accounts of lawmakers on the House Intelligence and Foreign Affairs committees.
Yet even if this never adds up to a spy thriller, it outranks most of the media’s other obsessions. The government, under the inattentive care of Democrats, may have been bilked for ages by a man the FBI has alleged to be a fraudster. That’s the same government Democrats say is qualified to run your health care, reform your children’s schools, and protect the environment. They should explain this first.”
Nothing to see here folks…but check out our coverage of Trump having helped his son with his homework!
Next up, though the Communist News Network‘s Jim Acosta displayed all the pluck of a one-legged man entering an ass-kicking contest, as this next video clip confirms, the outcome of the contest was similarly certain:
Perhaps because, as Tucker Carlson and Mary Steyn detail…
…Acosta knows next to nothing about immigration.
As the great Stilton Jarlsberg observed:
By the way, Liberals, here’s a little 411: a snippet from Emma Lazarus’ The New Colossus inscribed on a plaque in a museum at the base of a statue dedicated in 1886 carries zero legal weight, particularly when compared to powers set forth in the Constitution.
Meanwhile, MSLSD‘s Chris Hayes is shocked…shocked…to discover…
All of which serves to reaffirm Progressives are absolutely clueless about what anyone outside of their pet pressure groups are thinking.
Since we’re on the subject of Progressive special interest groups out of touch with reality, as Cortney O’Brien records at Townhall.com, the…
“For the first time ever, the NAACP is warning others not to travel to an entire state.Missouri is not safe for minorities, leaders concluded this week…”
Can we thus assume the NAACP encourages minorities to continue to travel to Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, New Orleans and other urban centers…
…including St. Louis?!?
Seriously, it’s not like ethnic minorities of a darker skin tone are safe as a baby in its mother’s arms in either St. Louis…
And as demonstrated by this video forwarded by Bill Meisen featuring an adult Black man being assaulted by a gang of “ethnic” yutes he asked to stop smoking weed on a Dallas commuter train, this isn’t the result of White racism, but rather due to learned behavior , taught at a VERY early age:
Too bad attackee Kennan Jones didn’t avail himself of The Lone Star State’s common-sense approach to self-defense; his particular story might have had a drastically different, far-happier ending…
…at least for him…which is the only outcome which matters.
Speaking of malignant forces opposed to the Founder’s vision for their Republic, writing at The American Spectator, Ross Kaminsky recalls…
McCain’s Revenge
Senator John McCain waited two years to get his revenge against Donald Trump for saying that McCain is not a war hero. But with a giant middle finger — or more precisely a thumb — McCain, perhaps assuming that he’ll never run for election again, showed Donald Trump that repealing and replacing Obamacare would not be the “so easy” venture that the great “deal-maker” promised.
I understand that these two men don’t like each other. I understand that revenge is a dish best served cold. But by looking to hurt President Trump — which I have no doubt was one motivation of the “maverick” Senator — John McCain cemented his reputation as a politico who always talked a good game and who traded on his former heroism but who in the end was (always!)a harmful influence in American politics.(I say cemented because McCain’s reputation had already gone substantially in that direction with his involvement in the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold Incumbent Protection Act — which may not be its official name — his incessant efforts to get and keep America in wars, and his mindless desire to promote “bipartisanship” over principle, party, and, in this case, country.)
In the closing moments of his “triumphant” return-to-the-Senate speech on Tuesday night, Senator McCain said that after the debates and votes on health care reform, he planned to stay in D.C. for a few days managing the Senate approval of the National Defense Authorization Act (“NDAA”), normally a fairly non-controversial process, before returning home for treating for his recently diagnosed brain cancer.
From the turnabout-is-fair-play files, as long as John McCain was going to torpedo his own party and the nation to assuage his obsession with only supporting bills approved of by Democrats, Senator Rand Paul decided “Game on!” On Friday, Dr. Paul, long one of the Senate’s most aggressive opponents of Obamacare, blocked the Senate from moving directly to consideration of McCain’s cherished NDAA. Not knowing when his bill may move to the floor, I suspect McCain will simply return to Arizona, any future return date uncertain at best. For Dr. Paul, a hot-off-the-grill revenge is fine as well…
Following his back-stabbing vote, John McCain, as sympathetic a character as his health issues might make him this week, deserves to feel the sting of a Republican senator. If McCain never returns to the Senate (which we fervently hope is the case!), it is fitting that the last vote he casts will be one which, unfortunately for the nation, adds some credence to the words “He’s no hero.”
To which we can only add a hearty, heartfelt “AMEN“! McCain’s obviously never understood we voted for him in 2008 for the same reason we cast our ballot for Trump: the alternative was unimaginable.
So John, chill out; it was NEVER about you!
And in the latest installment of the Environmental Moment, as Legal Insurrection informs us, The Left’s MSM mouthpieces can politicize even the upcoming solar eclipse:
“Add this to the annals of This is Why Everyone Hates the Media, Volume Eleventy Gazillion.
In approximately three weeks, Americans in flyover country will be treated to what NASA calls, “one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights – a total solar eclipse.” Naturally, that led the Boston Globe to ask, “Is the eclipse throwing shade at Clinton supporters?”
From The Globe:
The eclipse on Aug. 21 will be visible to people across the United States, but in most areas, the view will be of a partial eclipse. People will only be able to see a total eclipse if they’re located along the “path of totality,” which will start near Lincoln City, Ore., and end near Charleston, S.C.
Still, it’s not entirely surprising that the eclipse’s path of best perspective could slice through the entire country while mostly avoiding areas that backed Clinton.
While she won the popular vote, Trump won the Electoral College and about 84 percent of the country’s 3,100-plus counties.
Clinton won more voters overall because she captured densely populated urban areas, including New York City, Los Angeles, and Boston. Trump, by contrast, won many rural areas with small populations.
Perhaps it’s not a surprise that the solar eclipse is passing over Trump strongholds given that the president himself was born during a lunar eclipse…
Who knew the sun was a Trump supporter? Make the moon great again!”
Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side…
