It’s Monday, April 10th, 2017…and given an abundance of Spring maintenance issues around the house, today’s edition will be short and sweet.
But before we begin, following up on an earlier query why John Koskinen is still running the IRS and Lois Lerner remains unindicted, we pose the same question regarding James Comey’s continued tenure at the FBI, and why numerous senior management positions critical to hobbling The Deep State remain unfilled?
Perhaps if the guy in charge spent his weekends working…you know, in his office…at the White House…rather than golfing, the revolution could progress with a bit more alacrity?!?
Just sayin’.
Oh, and once again, we were forced to mute the television so as to preclude Jim Nantz…
…from spoiling another memorable Masters. We don’t know what Nantz has on Les Moonves…perhaps pictures of the CBS CEO in Michael Jackson’s playroom…but this syrupy schmuck’s last broadcast cannot possibly come soon enough to suit us. We’d rather endure reruns of Dick Button admiring Brian Boitano’s buns than suffer another moment of a Nantz commentary on anything…other than his pre-recorded eulogy; and only then with the sound off.
Now, here’ The Gouge!
First up, since we’re on the subject of greatness…
Any questions?!?
Speaking of prevaricating Progressives caught red-handed in the act of torturing the truth, in the Oh What Tangled Webs We Weave segment, consider this series of whoppers told to the American public with straight faces.
Exhibit A:
“We were able to find a solution that didn’t necessitate the use of force that actually removed the chemical weapons that were known from Syria, in a way that the use of force would never have accomplished. We were able to get the Syrian government to voluntarily and verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile.” – Susan Rice
Guess not!
Exhibit B:
We are measuring, Lerch; and we find you not only wanting, but full of sh*t.
Exhibit C:
Logic dictates only two possibilities: either all of these feckless fools had absolutely no idea what they were talking about…or they were lying through their teeth…and were hoping to get out of office before their lies became manifestly and undeniably obvious.
Unfortunately, as this next item, courtesy of Townhall.com‘s Cortney O’Brien demonstrates, neither logic nor the rule of law has any bearing on much of what occurs in our country of late. See if you can identify the problems presented as…
“Author Heather Mac Donald was scheduled to speak about her book “The War on Cops” at Claremont McKenna College in southern California last week, but student protesters had other plans. Mac Donald didn’t quite get 30 minutes into her speech before angry activists began pounding on the windows, shouting “f*** the police!” and “black lives matter!” Policehad to escort Mac Donaldquickly out through a side door and she was forced to give the rest of her speech via a livestream. She provided further details of the incident in an email to The College Fix.
“During my speech, the protesters banged on the glass windows and shouted,” she wrote. “It was extremely noisy inside the hall. I took two questions from students who were watching on livestream, but then the cops decided that things were getting too chaoticand I should stop speaking,” Mac Donald said. “An escape plan through the kitchen into an unmarked police van was devised; I was surrounded by about four cops. Protesters were sitting on the stoop outside the door through which I exited, but we had taken them by surprise and we got through them.”
If only this had been the first incident. Mac Donald faced asimilar welcomeat UCLA just a day earlier…”
The added emphasis should help: Heather Mac Donald, invited by what we can only assume was a lawfully-constituted association or authority at Claremont McKenna College, was forced to flee the premises after police decided protests were getting too chaotic and Heather should stop speaking.
Please note: the police didn’t forcethe protestorsto simmer down (let alone disband) so as to permit Heather Mac Donald her 1st Amendment right to free speech. Rather law enforcement authorities permitted mob rule to supersede the rule of law…forcing the invited to defer to the wishes of the uninvited.
Seriously, folks: if we on The Right aren’t willing to call a spade a spade, how can we expect the MSM to classify things any differently?!?
And in the Environmental Moment, we present a FOX News report we found of interest, not because of what it said, but rather what it didn’t say:
“The Trump administration issued a memo late last week revoking two federal directives implemented under President Obama that had blocked a controversial water project in California’s Mojave Desert.
…While the BLM’s one-page order didn’t specifically mention the Cadiz project, it eases the way for the company to argue for the reversal of the findings of the agency’s California field office, which said the company needed federal approval to construct its 43-mile water pipeline. The memo also noted that any future right-of-way decisions will be determined by the BLM’s office in Washington, D.C...
The resource company hopes to pump groundwater stored in its privately-owned Mojave holdings to supply 100,000 households. If successful, Cadiz stands to make between $1 billion and $2 billion in revenue over the project’s 50-year lifespan.
The pipeline has the support of many local lawmakers, including the San Bernardino County Board of Commissioners, which approved the project back in 2012.The board argued that the project would be a boon to the local economy by creating thousands of jobs and also bring water reliability to an area of the country that has suffered through a devastating drought over the past few years.
Cadiz also overcame a number of environmental lawsuits under state law.As part of its decision the San Bernardino County supervisors established an independent enforcement role over the project’s operations and authorized groundwater withdrawals that will avoid harm to desert resources.
Environmentalists and desert advocates, however, have decried the project, arguing that the project could deplete water needed to support the local wildlife and cause dust storms that would affect regional air quality.
Federal hydrologists have challenged Cadiz’s assertions about the rate of natural recharge of the desert aquifer.Public land advocates say that any pumping will dry up the natural springs on surrounding federal land. “Many of the springs and seeps are going to dry up because of groundwater extraction,” Ileene Anderson, a biologist with the Center for Biological Diversity, told The Press Enterprise…”
Here’s what the FOX News saw not worth mentioning:
“…In addition to environmental concerns, others object to a private company being able to make billions from water. Slater says they do not understand the law, which in California states no entity can own water but they can buy, sell and trade the right to use it.
“There are people that think water is a human right and confuse privatization with the right to get water under economic terms,” Slater says.
“This is the United States of America and we have private property here. This is not a communist country.
We own land, and land use is an attribute of property ownership,” he says. “Food doesn’t stay on the farm it was grown on. We share our food, we share our energy, we share our oil and gas. I can sell land to anybody. Why would I treat water any differently?
“The use of water is owned. It’s not like someone is calling up God and saying ‘make it rain’. It is sold as a right, just like you sell a house…”
““I remain concerned the Cadiz project could damage the Mojave desert beyond repair and believe the BLM decision to deny the right of way is the right one,” said the veteran Democrat, who in 1994 help create the Mojave national preserve. She believes it could be threatened by the Cadiz project. “The bottom line is that right now we need more responsibility in how we use our water, not less.”“
Yes, let’s allow the water to evaporate rather than actually use it. This is the same perverted Progressive/Environazi thinking which put the welfare of the Delta smelt over human beings, and prevents the building of dams and reservoirs to store California’s infrequent rains.
“…What’s especially ironic (Not “ironic”; merely par for the Progressive course!) is that all of the water diversions intended to benefit the environmentmay be causing irreparable environmental damage. Communities and farmers have drilled deeper wells and pumped more groundwater to compensate for reduced imports from the delta, leading to severe land subsidence.
A recent report by the California Department of Water Resources found that the San Joaquin Valley is sinking at a rate of nearly two inches per month in some areas. Land around Corcoran dropped 22 inches between May 2015 and September 2016, complicating engineering work onthe state’s bullet train.(NOT the BULLET TRAIN!!!) Subsidence has also reduced the carrying capacity of the California Aqueduct, which delivers water to Southern California, by 20%.
California has an arid climate, and parched times will return, which is all the more reason to take advantage of the wet years. That greens and politicians won’t do so suggests they almost wish for permanent drought.“
Here’s the juice: whether it’s feast…
…or famine…
…one thing’s for certain: the Liberal elites in Hollywood and Silicon Valley will never feel the pinch…let alone suffer the effects of real thirst.
Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side…
“A woman was found nearly naked wandering down a street in Fresno, Calif., Tuesday and investigators there say they need help identifying her. Fresno police said the woman was found around 3 a.m. near the Eagle Spring Golf & Country Club with wet hair. She identified herself as Joanna and told officers that she was a mermaid, Fox 5 San Diego reported.
The woman, who has two webbed toes on both feet, told officers she has been in the water but couldn’t answer many more questions. Officials said she is 5-foot-4, weighs about 150 pounds and has brown eyes and hair…”
5’4″, 150 lbs.: that’s big, even for a mermaid! What…did Lena Dunham suddenly grow a tail?!?
But if she self-identifies as a mermaid, these days, who’s to say?!?
