Not just “no”, but “HELL no“!!! Most any statement, oral or written, is subject to some interpretation; but not deliberate misinterpretation. And remember, this is coming from a guy who holds Trump with the level of trust and regard radical Sunnis view Shiites. It’s a marriage of convenience while both parties focus on the defeat of their ultimate enemy; in our case Hillary, with radical Islam the West.
We’ve listened to Trump’s statement a number of times, and though one can interpret it several ways, nothing he said is a clarion call to violence, let alone advocating the assassination of candidate or (perish the thought!) President Clinton. Even though, without endorsing violence of any kind at any level in politics…
That’s a joke.
What Trump did do…once again…was not only, as Matt Vespa goes on to note, miss yet another opportunity to highlight one of Hillary’s most glaring weaknesses…
“…If he meant it as a joke, in keeping with his weird delivery regarding humor, it’s another instance of the billionaire exhibiting appalling judgment. It’s not funny. And yes, it could land you in serious trouble. At the same time, I doubt that these remarks will activate gun owners with some sort of Manchurian Candidate mentality who will go to extraordinary lengths to shoot Clinton. That’s getting a bit aggressive, but that doesn’t excuse Trump from casually making indirect/vague (and idiotic) remarks about threats of violence.(Or those who could be deliberately misinterpreted as such!) By the recent polls, the man needs to concentrate and get back on message to avoid slaughter come November.
Lastly, we will be talking about this for quite a bit now. If Trump was able to control himself, maybe the story abouta pro-Taliban supporterattending a Clinton rally in Florida might have gained more traction. After all, in June, this person’s son committed the worst mass shooting carried out by an individual in American history in Orlando.
Yep, Seddique Mateen was present at Clinton’s rally in Kissimmee, where he says he was invited to the event, as he’s a member of the Democratic Party. The Clinton camp denies personally inviting him, but he was given prime seating right behind Clinton at the rally. The former first lady is executing a two-day swing in the Sunshine State, where she’s dogged questions about Mateen being at her rally. But we’re not going to discuss that now…because Donald Trump appears to have made a bad assassination joke…”
…he provided the MSM one more excuse to emphasize HIS lack of self-control rather than actually cover Hillary.
As the great Victor Davis Hanson noted prior to The Donald’s latest off-script catastrophe…
“Donald Trump is not so much running against Hillary Clinton as against the inner demons of Donald Trump. The 2016 election still should easily be his to win.
…All of the above would have ensured that almost any Republican could take at least 45 percent of the vote, regardless of the shortcomings of the candidate or campaign.
Trump’s strategy, then, should have been clear and easily attainable. He could have found the remaining 6 percent of the electorate necessary to win in the key swing states by simply doing two things: concentrate on all of the above issues, and do so with his accustomed energy and outside-the-box candor.
In practical terms, that should have meant that Trump — every speech, every day, every hour — would remind Americans that Hillary Clinton is an inveterate fabricator and utterly corrupt, with a record as secretary of state that has led to disaster abroad. He would have reviewed the moribund economy, reminded his audiences that the existing political and media status quo has no solutions, given that it was largely culpable for the problem. He would then have allowed the public to take in the tragic daily news cycle — more terrorists (not to mention the terrorist sympathizer sitting directly behind Hillary!), more attacks on police, more disclosures about Clinton corruption, more leaks about Obama’s ineptness — as he confirmed his diagnoses of the malady.
…All of the above was doable and could have ensured Trump the election, despite the unethical and historically unprecedented entrance into the campaign of a contrite Barack Obama, the institutional prejudices of the media, the usual big-city voter fraud, and even the withdrawal of the Republican elite who could not countenance Trump’s innate vulgarity, swashbuckling style, and demagogic appeal to the white working classes. We are, after all, in a war between the National Enquirer and NPR, Marlboro Man against Pajama Boy, Clint Eastwood versus Tom Hanks, amateurish fantasies opposed to established, polished lying.
Instead, here we are with less than 90 days before the election, and Trump may be lucky if he finishes within 5 percentage points on Election Day. To negate Trump’s advantages, the Democrats had a simple strategy: bring out the demonic Trump.(Likely counting on the utterly undisciplined Donald’s willing cooperation!)
…No one was asking Trump to go mute when Obama or Clinton attacked him in unprecedented fashion. The key instead was circumspection. Strike back quickly and only at major targets, to create deterrence against future smears, and then after 30 seconds get back on topic — and never step on a Democratic landmine out of curiosity whether it would really blow up. Translated, that means ignore assorted journalists eager for five minutes of cable-news attention, political flunkies, private citizens — both heroes and scoundrels — grieving widows, the disabled, the underage, and the elderly — in other words, all the cover plates that supposedly moral progressives use to mask their explosives.
Is it too late for Trump? So far, what he has thrown away in the polls Hillary so often seems to give back.
And so we are left only with a probability rather than a certainty: The odds are even that Trump’s self-destructive recklessness and narcissistic crudity (which so far seem not to have turned off 40 to 45 percent of the voters) are so embedded in his DNA that he will likely fall prey to each new Khan family and Judge Curiel trap, and not win over the necessary additional 5 to 6 percent of the electorate…”
Forget what he meant…forget the MSM’s probably-purposeful misinterpretation of his meaning; the fact remains, at a time when Trump needs to be leveling the playing field, yesterday in North Carolina, he did nothing to improve those odds.
Meanwhile, as Keith Koffler reports, ignoring the perilous state of the country and world he’s had such a large part in creating…
“All-night parties! Three hundred rounds of golf! Hawaii vacations! African safaris! And always, summer on the Vineyard! Truly the 1 Percent life. Sure, President Barack and Michelle Obama are the champions of the 99 percent. But that doesn’t mean they bother living like the 99 percent.
No, nothing like it. As Donald Trump would say, that’s for losers! If Americans are having trouble affording bread in the Obama economy, let them eat cake! Michelle Obama advises gluten-free.
The Obamas have spent the past eight years in the White House helping themselves to one type of self-indulgence after another. Were they Republicans, the press would be carrying on about the entitlements assumed by wealthy GOP elitists. And much of the cost was paid for by taxes confiscated from the 99 percent — at least to the extent the 99 percent are still paying taxes, as Obama signs up as many as possible for welfare and disability.
The Obamas over the past week held nothing back, celebrating the president’s 55th birthday which, fortunately for Obama, fell on a weekday, so he could spend both the weekend before and the one after celebrating.
On Saturday, July 31, Obama went golfing — his 299th round as president (he squeezed in one more since then!) — with three buddies from his childhood. He then choppered out to Camp David with his golf partners and a few other friends for a night of partying. He returned Sunday with that post-party look, “wearing khakis, a long-sleeved blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and shades,” the White House pool reporter noted. “A few moments later, several unidentified gentlemen emerged from Marine One, a few of them holding large round wooden objects that resembled thick frisbees.”
Whatever.
But that was just the warmup for the following Friday. Obama had no public schedule that day so he could rest up for the evening’s festivities.
By nightfall, the Obamas were partying away with Beyoncé and Jay Z, John Legend, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia DiRossi, Magic Johnson, Star Wars creator George Lucas, and actress Sarah Jessica Parker — not to mention former adviser David Axelrod and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Usher, Kendrick Lamar, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, and Alonzo Mourning were also said to be on the guest list.
The White House did its best to keep a lid on things, refusing to release a guest list. And then Saturday morning, the president and his family jetted to Martha’s Vineyard for 16 days of golf and dining at overpriced restaurants….”
One thing we must grudgingly admit: no First Family in history was ever better at draining the taxpayer teat dry than…
If a picture truly relates a thousand words, here’s a couple grand worth demonstrating our utter disdain and complete contempt for the worst calamity ever to befall America:
Since we’re on the subject of those we wouldn’t drain our bladder to extinguish were they fully engulfed in flames, in today’s edition of the MSM Bias…WHAT Bias?!? segment, James Taranto details how, given the sorry state of the Fourth Estate, when it comes to Hillary…
“…The Hill reports that “before [Mrs.] Clinton’s appearance, conference staffers went around the room reminding people that it’s inappropriate for journalists to give politicians standing ovations.” So was she speaking to journalists or to supporters of her candidacy?
That line seems even more blurred than usual this year, and some journalists find that acceptable. Jim Rutenberg writes a column for the New York Times business section called “Mediator” (it’s about mass communications, not dispute resolution). In today’s paper he raises the following question:
If you’re a working journalist and you believe that Donald J. Trump is a demagogue playing to the nation’s worst racist and nationalistic tendencies, that he cozies up to anti-American dictators and that he would be dangerous with control of the United States nuclear codes, how the heck are you supposed to cover him?
Before we consider Rutenberg’s answer, let’s try offering one of our own: Maybe you shouldn’t.If you have such a strong opinion about one of the major candidates, perhaps you shouldn’t be reporting on the election. You could request a transfer to another beat, or to the opinion section. If you really feel strongly about preventing Trump’s election, perhaps you should consider a career change. You could go to work for Mrs. Clinton’s campaign, or for one of the many independent advocacy organizations that support it.
…The greater threat from the abandonment of journalistic standards is that it compounds the danger to the country if Mrs. Clinton is elected. In that event, our partisan press would no longer be oppositional. They would be mere servants of power, to an even greater extent than they have been for the past 7½ years.“
Were journalists postal carriers, the USPS creed notwithstanding, they’d deliver the mail only to Liberals, only between the hours of 1000 and 1100 on sunny days with low humidity and temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit…and only if they were paid time-and-a-half!
On a Hillary-related side note, while recently watching Blackhawk Down, we recalled the 18 KIA and 73 WIA suffered by the Army units in Mogadishu were sacrificed on the altar of political expediency by President William Jefferson Clinton, who, while willing to deploy U.S. forces in a war zone, declined to provide them protection, as late as the week before the unfortunate events unfolded, adequate, let alone superior, to the threat he knew they would encounter, i.e. tanks and protective armor. Why? Because Clinton and Defense Secretary Les “Ass”spin had to protect a political image they wanted to project, in this case a reduced U.S. troop presence in Somalia.
Anyone else out there…
…recognize…
…the undeniable parallels?!?
Which brings us, appropriately enough, to today’s Muslim Moment, and the return of the Clock Boy:
After Returning from Islamic Pilgrimage, ‘Clock Boy’ is Now Suing Texas School
Ahmed Mohammed, the boy who was arrested after bringing a homemade clock to school that looked like a bomb has sued Texas school officials, citing a civil rights violation. The lawsuit details numerous incidents where he felt violated. Apparently he was the target of bullying and that “kids called him Sausage Boy and Bacon Boy because he did not eat pork” but the September 2015 incident involving the clock is the main reason behind the suit.
This follows news last month that Mohammed was returning to Texas from a religious pilgrimage in Qatar because of homesickness.During his eight months in the Middle East, Mohamed said he visited the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia with his family and enjoyed learning more about Islam at school, where the religion is embedded in the curriculum.
Mohammed intends to finish high school there and go on to study electrical engineering, he said.
After which the talented Ahmed will undoubtedly continue to design more highly efficient, and significantly more deadly…
…clocks!
Look, enough is enough, Ahmed:
…along with the rest of your phony “religion”:
On The Lighter Side…
Finally, we’ll call it a day with yet another sordid story stripped from the pages of The Crime Blotter, today’s installment courtesy of our brother Rob and a rather forgiving Kenyan:
Man forgives wife who attempted to chop off his manhood
A man stunned a Narok court Thursday when he decided to forgive his wife who squeezed his genitals while he was in deep sleep. Doris Nyamwita had pleaded guilty to the charge before principal magistrate Titus Gesora that, on the night of August 2, at Kisiriri trading center, she squeezed and pulled the private parts of her husband Stanley Sameri Mukari, injuring him.
Court documents show that the man’s troubles started with a domestic quarrel during the day, when he threatened to marry another woman, claiming that Ms Nyamwita had failed to bear him children. As the evening progressed, everything appeared normal and was the routine, the couple had dinner and retired for the night. But Ms Nyamwita had other things in mind.
Prosecutor David Mwangi told the court that at around 3am, Mr Sameri was woken up by a sharp pain in his private parts and found his wife pulling and twisting his genitals. And in the struggle to save his manhood, he sustained serious injuries and was left with “unbearable pain”, which he had to endure until daybreak.
Mr Sameri was taken to Narok County Referral hospital at dawn where he was treated and discharged. He reported the matter at the Narok police station leading to the arrest of his wife.
