It’s Friday, January 22nd, 2016, and we’re writing this as yet another alarmist-MSM-declared Storm of the Century hits the Northeast.  Seriously, folks: it’s Winter; and when it gets cold enough, any precipitation takes the form of snow.  But before we go any further, since we’re on the subject of white stuff,  a quick thought on another manifestation evoked by this photo forwarded by George Lawlor:

We’re with Stacey Dash on this one:

Look, we detest Hollywood, and frankly find the Oscars the biggest joke ever perpetrated upon the public…prior to the Great Society, the junk science of anthropogenic global warming, the Unaffordable Care Act, Cash for Clunkers and every other policy ever promulgated by Progressives.  Think about it: an industry which creates an honor it awards itself in order to further promote its own product; we must grudgingly admit it’s a brilliant scam.

But consider the logical extension of Jada Pinkett “We Wouldn’t Know Her Dead in a Ditch” Smith’s Black boycott: after the Academy guarantees Negros a certain number of nominations, who and what’s next?  Hispanics?  Asians?  Indo-Asians?  Pacific Islanders?  Aleuts/American Indians?  What about LGBTs?!?

As the late Sam Kinison observed…

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, while The Donald found the time to retweet the ranting of a Neo-Nazi, at least as of 1700 today, this supposed champion of Conservatism was evidently too busy to comment on the occasion of the March for Life commemorating the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.  As Townhall.com‘s Christine Rousselle remarked:

“It doesn’t look all that great for a candidate who is currently the frontrunner of a major political party with a pro-life platform to be entirely silent on the issue on a pretty notable day. Firing off a tweet takes all of seconds, and in this case, his silence is speaking pretty loudly.”

But just as those enraptured by The Great Prevaricator, including a significant number of Evangelical Christians, could ignore the fact Barry spent 20 years of Sundays dutifully listening to the anti-American rantings of a rabid racist…

…those drunk on Trump’s flavor of Hope-and-Change Kool-Aid will remain oblivious to the obvious, as the great Thomas Sowell notes…

projecting onto him virtues and principles that he clearly does not have, and ignoring gross defects that are all too blatant.

To those who continue to be inexplicably enamored of Trump’s schtick, snap out of it!  You’re Conservatives for crying out loud, and thus supposedly governed by logic and reason, not factless feelings.

Has the GOP Trump-Palin Era Begun?

BN-ME584_botwt0_J_20160120103927

“…Trying to understand why she endorsed Trump rather than a candidate like Ted Cruz, who was clearly closer to what we supposed to be her political principles, is not that difficult. Throughout her brief reign as the idol of a relatively small but potent fan base on the right, Palin’s primary interest has been in promoting her own brand. She often waded into primary fights to endorse conservatives like Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Nikki Haley against establishment rivals. But her priority has always been to burnish her image as the rogue king or queen maker, more than anything else. She wisely abandoned electoral politics in her own right because she knew certain defeat would be fatal to her celebrity and influence. But having helped others start out in electoral office, she quickly abandoned any that might eclipse her as the voice of the right.

That’s why her coming out against Cruz during the most crucial moment of his campaign as he seeks to win Iowa makes sense. Love him or hate him — and virtually all of his Congressional colleagues fall into the latter category — Cruz’s record as a genuine rogue seeking to destroy the party establishment in the Senate is exactly why Palin felt the need to back someone else, even if it means endorsing someone who has a long record of support for liberal positions on both social and economic issues. A Cruz victory means that Tea Party and evangelical activists will have no more need of a figure whose fame is based on a brief stint in office and an even more brief and spectacularly unsuccessful national political campaign…”

Think Occam and his razor.

Next up, the WSJ‘s Dan Henninger offers his review of the latest movie Progressives love to hate:

‘13 Hours’: It’s Political

Hillary Clinton was complicit in Barack Obama’s Benghazi tale.

OBANDONED-BENGHAZI-91922517243-e1360282292310

It is possible to identify how far down the mountain American politics has fallen in one word—Benghazi.

Benghazi is no longer the place in Libya where U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed by Islamist militias. “Benghazi” is now just another neutralized buzzword in the bad-mouthing wars of American politics. As a professional cynic aptly noted to Congress, “What difference, at this point, does it make?” Forget Benghazi. It’s time to move on to more important matters.

Such as what?

The movie “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” opened last week, and the cold-water machines have been hosing it. No one cares about Benghazi anymore, the conventional sniffing goes, because the box-office is tepid. At 144 minutes, “13 Hours” is too long and, really, it’s just too political.

benghazi-liars

I sat through it, and these political faces and names appear nowhere in the movie: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice. But for the last 75 minutes, I could think of only one thing: the Obama administration’s YouTube coverup, the storyor “talking points”—about how an obscure anti-Islamic video made in California caused Benghazi to happen.

“13 Hours” is a graphic, reasonably accurate depiction of the events on Sept. 11, 2012: the consular assault, Chris Stevens’s death, an escape under heavy fire to the CIA annex a mile away, and the successful, nightlong defense of the annex. With apologies to the politically delicate,13 Hours” makes the memory of the government’s tall tale, which it insisted on repeating for more than a week, hard to stomach.

And one other, impossible-to-flinch conclusion: There ought to be a political reckoning over this with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who, her emails revealed, was complicit in a White House concoction she knew the night of the attack was untrue. She is now asking the American people to let her succeed Mr. Obama into the White House. Benghazi is toward the top of the list of reasons they should say “no.” From the looks of it, many are doing so already…”

Speaking of the Devil, Townhall.com‘s Guy Benson relays this report from NBC:

Intel on Hillary’s Server Was So Secret, IG Needed Special Permission to Review It

CN8t8t1UwAA_vtl

“…Two American intelligence officials tell NBC News these are not the same two emails from Clinton’s server that have long been reported as containing information deemed Top Secret…The declarations cover “several dozen emails containing classified information determined by the IC element to be at the CONFIDENTIAL, SECRET and TOP SECRET/SAP information.” An intelligence official familiar with the matter told NBC News that the special access program in question was so sensitive that McCullough and some of his aides had to receive clearance to be read in on it before viewing the sworn declaration about the Clinton emails. Clinton’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment…”

Perhaps more importantly, as FOX News reports…

Clinton email exposed intel from human spying

Meanwhile, as Townhall.com‘s Leah Barkoukis details, the wheels of injustice continue to grind as slowly as possible:

Blaming Snowstorm and Oversight, State Dept Seeks Delay in Releasing Final Batch of Clinton Emails

hillary

There is one last batch of Hillary Clinton’s emails that was set to be released by January 29, but the State Department on Friday sought a delay until Feb. 29—conveniently after the Iowa and New Hampshire caucuses, as well as the Nevada Democratic Caucus and the South Carolina Democratic Primary.

The department insisted that the delay in disclosing the emails was not related to the presidential primary season. Rather, it is because of “oversight” and the snowstorm in D.C., a spokesman said…”

Yeah…a month-long postponement necessitated by a two-workday delay which hasn’t even happened; only in The Obamao’s Administration…or that of Nixon.

Which brings us to the latest installment of the Environmental Moment, and James Taranto highlighting another in the never-ending list of inconsistencies which form the basis of the junk science of anthropogenic global warming:

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

cartoon_caveman_iceage_ending

“Could this be good news about global warming?” asks a story at CNN.com:

Latest research suggests that human intervention has postponed the beginning of the next ice age. . . .

Scientists at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany have found that the Earth’s last eight ice ages can be explained by a relation between insolation—solar radiation reaching the Earth’s surface—and CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. This also helps to predict future glacial cycles.

“As far as the human power is concerned, the main lesson is that by burning fossil fuel over just one century we will affect climate for at least 100,000 years or even more,” lead researcher Andrey Ganopolski tells CNN.

“Although it has no practical importance whether the next ice age will begin in 50,000 or 100,000 years from now, the fact that we can alter such a remote future clearly shows that humans already have a power to affect the future on geological time scales.”

So let’s see if we have this straight: A supposed increase in temperature of a fraction of a degree is cause for world-wide alarm. But delaying a catastrophe for 50,000 years is of no practical importance.

Not only that, but consider the Environazis admit the Earth has both warmed and cooled dramatically at least 8 times in the past absent any possible human impact.

Which reminds us: THANKS EPA

for another job well done!!!  As NRO‘s Jim Geraghty so aptly put it:

Man, this is the worst EPA scandal in . . . like, six months.
