It’s Monday, November 30th, 2015…but before we begin, two random thoughts on the passing Progressive psychosis. Numero uno, the Colorado Springs shootings:
“We are learning that eyewitnesses confirm that the man who will be charged with the tragic and senseless shooting that resulted in the deaths of three people and injures to nine others at Planned Parenthood’s health center in Colorado Springs was motivated by opposition to safe and legal abortion,” Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountain CEO Vicki Cowart said.
“This is an appalling act of violence targeting access to health care and terrorizing skilled and dedicated health care professionals.”
“Congratulations! Your unborn, defenseless fetus will be our one millionth customer served…up for slaughter!”
Forgetting for the moment we find Cowart’s assertion a crazed gunman would express a sentiment straight out of Planned Parenthood’s talking points highly suspect…or the undeniable disconnect between “safe and legal abortion” and “health care”…are we to believe a guy who looks like this…
…and lived in a place like that…
…is anything other than stark, raving mad?!?
Not to mention when, as the great Stilton Jarlsberg so eloquently observed…
“…all he’s known to have babbled out is ‘no more baby parts’, which are explicitly NOT a component of ‘safe and legal abortions’.”
Not that anyone should be confused by the facts!
Next, particularly in light of Rahmbo purposefully and cynically preventing the release of the video which has become the latest cause d’jour of the Black Lives Matter crowd (more on that later) until after his run-off reelection, is anyone else puzzled by the continuing support Dimocrats enjoy with those about whose welfare they seem to care so little?!?
Which just serves to prove, as we’ve so often noted…
Now, without further ado, here’s The Gouge!
First up, the great Thomas Sowell weighs in on the import of…
“…Politics produces lots of words that can mean very different things, if you stop and think about them. But politicians depend on the fact that many people don’t bother to stop and think about them.
We often hear that various problems within the black community are “a legacy of slavery.” That phrase is in widespread use among people who believe in the kinds of welfare state programs that began to dominate government policies in the 1960s.
Blaming social problems today on “a legacy of slavery” is another way of saying, “Don’t blame our welfare state policies for things that got worse after those policies took over. Blame what happened in earlier centuries.” Nobody would accept that kind of cop-out, if it were expressed that way. But that is why it is expressed differently, as a “legacy of slavery.”
…Stupid? No. It takes very clever people to make something like that sound plausible. But it also requires people who don’t bother to stop and think, who enable them to get away with it.“
As well as a compliant Fourth Estate willing to regurgitate such falsehoods as truth.
In a related item, Erick Erickson details The Left’s love-affair with…
“…Last week, The New York Times stated that reports about ISIS began trickling out of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2012, during an election campaign in which Barack Obama repeatedly boasted about al-Qaida being dismantled and on the run. Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, who was in charge of the Defense Intelligence Agency at that time, told the New York Times that the report “was disregarded by the White House.” He said, “Frankly, at the White House, it didn’t meet the narrative.”
Less than a week later, the highly regarded reporter Catherine Herridge of Fox News reported that “analysts at U.S. Central Command were pressured to ease off negative assessments about the Islamic State.” Not only that, but sources told her that someone connected to the Obama Administration later attempted to destroy the notices to “toe the line” and cover up that Administration officials wanted reports to understate the threat.
This is the most serious allegation so far, as more Americans realize the Obama Administration has completely underestimated the threat of ISIS. First they were a “jayvee” team and now they are just a bunch of killers. The reality is that as early as 2012, intelligence analysts were reporting that ISIS was a growing international threat on the verge of creating a terrorist nation-state. The Obama Administration ordered those reports neutered and watered down to keep the narrative going about the “jayvee” team and the winning Obama strategy.
During the Bush years, the American media demanded that new facts change George Bush’s mind. Anything the press saw that ran contrary to Bush Administration thinking had to be put into an equation to change Administration plans. In fact, taking new facts and changing narratives was of great value in the Bush Administration.
The Obama Administration has not only refused to change with new facts and data, but seemingly tried to redact and revise facts to keep an existing narrative going. The American press has largely (“largely”?; how ’bout “continuously“?!?) let Barack Obama get away with it, and we can only hope the body count, as a result, will be low.“
Which begs the question, had the four individuals sacrificed to The Dear Misleader’s narrative in Benghazi been Black, would their lives then…
…have mattered?!?
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, as the WSJ‘s Kimberly Strassel reports, The Gang Who Still Can’t Shoot Straight may at least finally be pointing their weapons in the right direction:
John, at least there’s one individual who honestly misses you!
“When Chuck Schumer feels compelled to dial up a grouchy conference call with the press, it usually means Republicans are doing something right.
In this case what’s right is a strategy by the Republican Senate, which is refusing to confirm a slew of President Obama’s nominees to key posts. GOP senators are issuing “holds” on appointees and explaining that they will continue until the administration accedes to specific demands. Judging by the number, volume and bitterness of Democrats’ howls, this is getting the White House’s attention.
“We should be fighting ISIS with all hands on deck, not with one hand tied behind our back,” complained Mr. Schumer on his recent call, suggesting that the fight against terrorism might improve if the State and Defense departments simply had more people to not implement Mr. Obama’s non-policy in Syria and Iraq. “Why are nonpartisan public-service positions being used as political pawns?” grumped Harry Reid, from his usual grumping ground on the Senate floor.
The answer, as Mr. Reid well knows, is that the holds are proving to be one of the Republican Senate majority’s best means of negotiating with this intransigent White House. Barack Obama isn’t willing to sign bills to improve ObamaCare or rein in spending or even tighten vetting for refugees. The administration continues to block basic congressional oversight. And the president still shows withering contempt for Congress and the law, threatening to go around both whenever he doesn’t get his way. The holds are a small, sometimes effective way to extract concessions.
The best holds are those that come with specific demands—and most of these do…
...This may not be as dramatic as repealing ObamaCare, but it does matter. One of Congress’s basic jobs is oversight, and the GOP has a particular interest in and duty to inform the electorate about Mr. Obama’s policy failings. The holds are a good sign this Republican majority knows that, and is using one of the only available tools.“
Then again, even a broken clock is right once in a while!
Next up, NRO‘s Kevin Williamson takes us for a spin on The Left’s…
“From time to time, something will leap out to me as an illustration of the fact that blacks and whites often inhabit separate realities. I’ve often told the story of the editorial in a black neighborhood newspaper in Philadelphia warning African-Americans to flee urban areas in the lead-up to the 2004 presidential elections because George W. Bush was planning to — this was presented as unquestionable fact – use nuclear weapons against the inner cities to suppress the black vote. This wasn’t somebody ranting on Twitter — this was in print, in a regularly published newspaper that was, in the early days of the 21st century, still a going concern.
I’ve come to call this sort of thing (with apologies to Richard Hofstadter) the paranoid style in African-American politics. Mild versions of conspiracy theories play a large role in mainstream American politics in the form of folk beliefs about how government works, the role of lobbyists and campaign contributions, and the like. For right-wing populists, it’s the “Establishment” and the “donor class,” for left-wingers it’s the Koch brothers, Big Oil, Big Money, Big Bigness, etc. We’ve all heard the story of how we could be running our automobiles on seawater if not for the fact that the petro-billionaires are suppressing the technology. The closer you get to the fringes, the more prominent the role of conspiracy theories. But it seems to me that conspiracy theory plays an outsize role in mainstream African-American political discourse.
…The conspiracy theory is tempting. But Detroit isn’t Detroit because of the FBI or the Ku Klux Klan or microaggression or privilege: Detroit has been for decades under almost exclusively black government, government that is at the municipal level in fact self-consciously black, practitioners of what one Detroit News columnist in 2009 called “the black nationalism that is now the dominant ideology of the council.” Detroit hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1957, and after its bankruptcy convulsions it elected Mike Duggan, a Democrat who is the first non–African American to hold that job since Coleman Young came into power in 1974. The implosion of Detroit ought to have occasioned some interesting discussion about the relationship between black-dominated cities, progressive ideology, and the Democratic party, but, instead, we got more conspiracy theory: The Reverend Charles E. Williams II insisted that the situation in Detroit was part of an effort to “suppress and dismantle democracy, break the back of workers, and directly attack our voting rights,” while connecting the state government’s response to Jim Crow. Melissa Harris-Perry insisted that Detroit failed because of — seriously — its excessive commitment to Republican small-government policies. She may as well have argued that George W. Bush nuked Detroit.
Again, this isn’t limited to black political discourse, though such daftness does run deeper into the black mainstream than it does elsewhere. It is difficult to imagine a white equivalent of Louis Farrakhan (George Lincoln Rockwell?) receiving the sort of respectful and deferential coverage given to Farrakhan, who believes that white people were invented by a wicked prehistorical scientist. But sometimes I’ll encounter one of those specimens who want to tell me about how the Jews are secretly running the world, and what always stands out about these types isn’t their hatred, but how sad they are. And it is the sadness that explains the love of conspiracy theory: The truth is too terrible to consider.“
Problem is, as the statistics in this next item from Breitbart confirm, facts remain, especially to Dimocrats, inconveniently stubborn things:
“It would take cops 40 years to kill as many black men as have died at the hands of others black men in 2012 alone.”
“The mainstream American media is, again, happily hitting the Black Lives Matter crack pipe in its pernicious pursuit of high ratings. These blood-lusting junkies were nowhere to be found when, with haunting predictability, Chicago news headline after headline detailed the carnage that has consumed dozens of communities in that city where black men kill each other with terrifying regularity.
Where were these Black Lives Matter protesters after the slaying of Chicago’s little Tyshawn Lee, the 9-year-old lured into an alley and shot to death by a black man seeking gang-related vengeance against his father? Did little Tyshawn’s murder at the hands of a black gangster–an all too common occurrence in Chicago–not warrant wall-to-wall news coverage or Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson-style calls for “justice”? No.
Why? Because the ugly truth behind #BlackLivesMatter is that black people killing other black people does nothing to advance its political power in the same way that one white cop killing a black criminal can.
Despite the media’s overindulgence on white cops killing blacks, there is still a far-larger amount of black bodies being sent to morgues by black killers. Here’s five devastating facts, liberals can’t deny, that prove it…”
And in the Environmental Moment, more idiocy from the folks who put wholly-concocted, politically-motivated crises above anything, even America’s national security:
Concurrently, across the pond in gay Paree…
On the Lighter Side…
Finally, we’ll call it a wrap with News of the Bizarre…Though Given the Policies Promoted by Progressives, Unfortunately Inevitable, and this just in from the home of citizen soldiers, universal access to automatic weapons, fine watches, exquisite chocolate and now, bestiality:
“Oooohhh, Wilbur!”
“More Swiss people are having sex with horses, according to a sickening new report. There were 105 cases of the maltreatment of horses in Switzerland in 2014 — 10 percent of which involved people having sex with them, according to Tier im Recht, an animal welfare group. “This rate is relatively elevated compared with other types of animals,” Andreas Rüttimann, a legal expert with the group, told reporters, The Local reported.
There are an estimated 110,000 horses living on 18,000 Swiss farms. Experts estimate that 10,000 people in Switzerland are “predisposed” to zoophilia, according to the 20 Minuten newspaper. The group said the number of unreported horse abuse cases is likely much higher than reported…”
That is, of course, unless the horse…
…is the famous Mr. Ed! As for rumors of any other inappropriate Hollywood dalliances…
…we…
…know nothing!!!
