Yet, despite knowing there’s no such thing as a free lunch, all the Dimocratic candidates for President are literally tripping over each other in their attempts to woo voters by offering more freebies the country cannot afford. We kid you not: if Hillary’s elected…
…immediately after going long in gold…and lead.
Any questions?!?
Now, here’s The Gouge!
Leading off the last edition of the week, borrowing a page from the playbook of the last two failed GOP candidates for the Oval Office (McCain returning to Washington to combat the “historic crisis in our financial system”, Romney vacationing in New Hampshire)…
“Hillary Clinton is drawing head scratches from the White House for saying she decided to oppose the Pacific-nation trade deal after “looking at it” — even though the official text is not public. The Democratic presidential front-runner addressed her flip-flop on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a deal she backed as secretary of state, at Tuesday’s Democratic debate.
She acknowledged she once called it the “gold standard,” but added: “It was just finally negotiated last week, and in looking at it, it didn’t meet my standards — my standards for more new, good jobs for Americans.”
…Yet while the U.S. and 11 Pacific Rim nations finalized the accord earlier this month, the final text has not been released, a fact confirmed by the White House on Wednesday. “I noticed that, too,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said when asked about Clinton opposing a deal whose text has not been posted…”
In all seriousness, this wretched creature couldn’t tell the truth if her life depended on it; mainly because her political life is utterly reliant upon continued deception.
Turning now to today’s installment of The Inmates Are Running the Asylum, this just in from Charm City:
“…The drama began late Wednesday as several members of the Baltimore Uprising coalition shouted from the balcony overlooking the meeting room as the city council subcommittee prepared to vote for Kevin Davis as permanent commissioner. The group refused to leave until Davis and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake met their list of demands, including changes to police tactics and significant investment in education and social services.
Some of those who had left before the arrests said they were mostly student activists. They said they opposed city deliberations to make permanent the interim appointment of Police Commissioner Kevin Davis, adding they had been given no chance for input and had several other demands.
…Following the subcommittee’s vote, Davis called Wednesday night’s protest an “act of civil disobedience” that “is just part of this moment.”
“It’s all part of the healing process,” he said. “The fact that this occurred isn’t upsetting. It’s just part of where the city is right now. I understand where they are. I understand their frustration. … I promised the citizens of Baltimore and the protesters that I’ll be the type of police commissioner that they deserve. This is just part of where the city is right now, and if we’re going to get to the other side of this, we have to go through these moments.”
Addressing the council subcommittee earlier, Davis said that he remains committed to training officers to actively engage and interact with community members. Davis also emphasized his commitment to “respect and fight for the right for Americans to assemble and peacefully protest.”
“2015 is the year that things change,” Davis said, referring to the task of repairing the tense relationship between the police and the public in Baltimore.”
2015 is the year things changed; unfortunately, as with The Obamao, whenever Liberals are involved, change is rarely if ever…
…for the better! And does anyone else sense the new police chief’s permissive perspective of unlawful activity is the same misguided approach which permitted the burning of Baltimore in the first place?!?
Speaking of counterproductive Progressive policies, as the Navy shrinks to a perilously-low force level in an increasingly dangerous world, check out how The Obamao’s SecNav spends his time and budget dollars:
“Under orders from Secretary Ray Mabus, the Navy has announced changes that will eventually make uniforms and covers more gender-neutral. And so, the unisex “Dixie Cup,” or enlisted white hat, will come into being and be available for wear by E-6s and below next April. Female sailors will also be allowed to carry bigger purses, so long as they match their shoes.
“Having service members don the same headgear is symbolic of a Navy that is gender-blind,” said Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen, a Navy spokesman…”
Forget the ChiComs, NoKos, Mullahs and Moscow; isn’t a gender-blind Military what this Administration’s all about?!? At least someone…
…finds such political-correctness-run-amok amusing.
And in the Environmental Moment, a noted physicist, climate expert and Barry booster who’s not on the payroll of Big Oil says…
“…“It’s very sad that in this country, political opinion parted [people’s views on climate change],” he said, in an interview with The Register. “I’m 100 percent Democrat myself, and I like Obama. But he took the wrong side on this issue, and the Republicans took the right side.”
Now retired, Dyson was a professor of physics at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton between 1953 and 1994. Famed for his work in quantum electrodynamics and nuclear engineering, Dyson also worked on climate studies during his career.
Climate change, according to Freeman, “is not a scientific mystery but a human mystery. How does it happen that a whole generation of scientific experts is blind to obvious facts?”
The physicist and mathematician argues that pollution caused by fossil fuels has been conflated with climate change. “Coal is very unpleasant stuff, and there are problems with coal quite apart from climate,” he said. “Pollution is quite separate to the climate problem: one can be solved, and the other cannot, and the public doesn’t understand that.”
During his interview with The Register Dyson noted shortcomings in climate models. “What has happened in the past 10 years is that the discrepancies between what’s observed and what’s predicted have become much stronger,” he said. “It’s clear now the models are wrong, but it wasn’t so clear 10 years ago. I can’t say if they’ll always be wrong, but the observations are improving and so the models are becoming more verifiable.”
Dyson also wrote a strong foreword to a report published Monday by The Global Warming Policy Foundation, which calls for a reassessment of carbon dioxide. “To any unprejudiced person reading this account, the facts should be obvious: that the non-climatic effects of carbon dioxide as a sustainer of wildlife and crop plants are enormously beneficial, that the possibly harmful climatic effects of carbon dioxide have been greatly exaggerated, and that the benefits clearly outweigh the possible damage,” he wrote…”
In a related item, for those still wondering why so many otherwise-intelligent individuals continue to advocate for such an indisputably defective discipline, there’s GOLD in them thar’ grants:
“A key signatory of a petition calling for government to sue companies that question climate change has pulled the letter from his institute’s website amid revelations his family reaped $500,000 in salary and benefits last year from the government-funded organization.
The controversy started after George Mason University climatologist Jagadish Shukla and 19 other scientists signed a letter on Sept. 1 urging lawsuits against companies like Exxon for, the petitioners claim, intentionally misleading about climate change. They say the federal government could sue using “RICO” laws originally designed to prosecute the mob, and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., has also backed the idea.
But global warming skeptics accused Shukla of channeling millions of dollars in government science grants into his own salary through a non-profit…
…Last year, tax records show that Shukla received a $333,000 salary and benefits from an organization he created called the “The Institute of Global Environment and Society” – a group that gets 90 percent of its revenue from government grants. His wife also received $166,000 in compensation from the group over the same period.
…The organization has been operating since 1991, and total payments from the group to the Shuklas since 2001 (the most recent year records are available) amount to $5.6 million, according to an analysis of old returns by the Free Beacon. In addition to the government grants, Virginia state records show that Shukla gets an annual salary of $250,000 from the public George Mason University.
The best part? Shukla isn’t even an American citizen, native or naturalized! And his wife commanding such considerable compensation brings to mind Moochie’s cushy $300K+ package as Vice President for Community and External Affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center, a position so important it wasn’t filled once she resigned.
At the risk of belaboring the point, we’ll give any adherents of anthropogenic global warming one more opportunity to prove their case: if human activity, vice natural climatic changes, is driving any current increase in planetary temperatures, what did long-dead North Americans do to cause…
…the retreat of the Laurentide ice sheet and open up Greenland for agriculture?
On the Lighter Side…
Finally, courtesy of FOX News, we’ll call it a week with another sordid story straight from the pages of The Crime Blotter:
“Police in Michigan raided the home and office of an allegedly rogue abortion doctor Tuesday night, following the discovery of what appeared to be a dozen containers of aborted fetus parts and a powerful anesthetic in the trunk of his car.
The grisly discoveries were made after Dr. Michael Roth, an OB/GYN who has been repeatedly sued by patients and sanctioned by health authorities, asked police to retrieve items from his car, which was impounded after Roth allegedly struck a 32-year-old disabled man in West Bloomfield two weeks ago. Roth has not yet been charged in connection with the accident or the aborted remains allegedly found in his car, though local, state and federal authorities are investigating…”
Two quick questions: (1) What’s the crime? We mean, what could he possibly have done more heinous than a partial birth procedure…or selling fetal body parts for profit?!? (2) “Rogue abortion doctor”; what, like there’s any other kind?!?
