It’s Wednesday, March 11th, 2015…but before we begin, three quick sets of pictures that speak volumes about where The Left has taken this country. Numero uno, courtesy of Senora Shannon Bush:
Numero dos, the curiously cropped photo of the Selma reenactment featured on the front page of…
As you likely know by now, the Old Grey Nag couldn’t quite bring itself to show its readers…
the entire scene. The Times explanation for the omission?
A photographer for The New York Times says the publication did not crop former President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush from a photo featuring President Barack Obama, Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and others leading a march commemorating the 50th anniversary of the “Bloody Sunday” clash in Selma, Alabama, over the weekend.
“Just so you know, President Bush was not cropped out, he was not in that frame because he was so far to our right,” photographer Doug Mills wrote in an email to Politico.
As Best of the Web so aptly observed:
“Wait, he wasn’t in the picture “because he was so far to our right”?Isn’t that exactly the accusation?“
The great Michael Ramirez marked the occasion with this bit of biting satire:
Lastly, Balls Cotton forwarded a meme which should cause anyone with even a lick of sense, let alone an ounce of patriotism, to consider…
…”Yeah,…good point.”
Now, here’s The Gouge!
First up, we’re going out on a limb and saying this is one bullet Hillary ain’t dodgin’:
“Diane Feinstein, The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee urged former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to give a full explanation of why she used a private e-mail account for all her official correspondence during her four years as America’s top diplomat.“
Sure…provided of course it’s a full explanation; after all, it’s not like a Clinton would lie or anything:
Seriously, this is a pack of political hyenas who’ve been proven, and that repeatedly, and beyond any reasonable doubt, not only to have lied, but lied when they claimed to be telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Trust ’em; you have…
“Hillary Clinton may have thought she was defusing the controversy over her exclusive use of a private email account while serving as secretary of state by admitting that it would have been “smarter” for her not to have done it at her United Nations press conference today. But even if you are prepared to accept her excuse that this decision was based on a desire for greater “convenience,” (Which is patently absurd.)the notion that the nation should simply accept that the process by which she decided which emails could be handed over to the government and which could be deleted amounted to simply telling the country that they were obligated to trust her. Perhaps her many fans will accept that, as will Democrats who feel they have no choice but to sink or swim with their putative nominee for president in 2016. But the resentful tone of her comments during the presser and her adamant refusal to consider any effort to provide some transparency for her private home email server will only fuel more cynicism about her poor judgment. This may be all she has to say about it now, but this story isn’t going away…”
In a related item, James Taranto suggests, given the reality behind Hillary’s releases, she deserves the sobriquet…
“If you were following the revelations about Hillary Clinton’s private State Department IT operation last week, you probably heard that, as the initial New York Times story put it, “55,000 pages of emails were given to the department” in December after being selected by a private aide to the former secretary. You might have wondered: What does that mean, 55,000 “pages”? Or maybe you just read it, as the crack fact-check team over atPolitiFact did just last night, as 55,000 emails.
It turns out the reference is to literal physical pages. From Friday’s Times: “Finally, in December, dozens of boxes filled with 50,000 pages of printed emails from Mrs. Clinton’s personal account were delivered to the State Department.”
Why did Mrs. Clinton have her staff go through the trouble of printing out, boxing and shipping 50,000 or 55,000 pages instead of just sending a copy of the electronic record? One can only speculate, but there is an obvious advantage: Printed files are less informative and far harder to search than the electronic originals.
Because State has only printouts of emails, department personnel responding to a Freedom of Information Act request have to go through the whole haystack rather than type “needle” into a search engine. At best, that would mean long delays in FOIA compliance.
Likewise, printouts are not subject to electronic discovery in the event of investigation or lawsuit. The Times reports that department lawyers responding to a request from the House Select Committee on Benghazi took two months to find “roughly 900 pages pertaining to the Benghazi attacks.” And printouts do not include electronic “metadata,” which can provide crucial forensic evidence…”
Here’s the juice: Hillary is at best bereft of judgment. At worst, she and her staff are guilty of criminal conspiracy. Either way, no one so utterly lacking in common sense should be deemed even remotely fit to ascend to the highest office in the land. And the fact Hillary still considers herself a viable candidate speaks volumes…
…about the pathological personalities and utterly unbridled egos with which we’re dealing. Then again…
…she learned from the worst!
Meanwhile, in what has become his trademark fashion, The Obamao wants it both ways. As Best of the Web relates:
“…Meanwhile, have you noticed that the White House’s story on the Clinton email scandal keeps changing? On Friday the Hill quoted senior adviser Valerie Jarrett: “The president has a very firm policy that emails should be kept on government systems.” But she gave him an out: “We establish the policy here, but then we leave it up to every single agency to determine how to adhere to that policy.”
The Hill also quotes press secretary Josh Earnest: “Very specific guidance has been given to agencies all across the government, which is specifically that employees of the Obama administration should use their official email accounts when they’re conducting official government business.”
On Saturday the Associated Press reported that in an interview with CBS News, President Obama said “it was through news reports that he first learned that Hillary Rodham Clinton used a private, nongovernment email account while serving as his secretary of state.” But on Friday Politico reported that the White House knew in August…”
Hey, c’mon, he only works here:
Uhh…okay; he only lives here!
And here’s an intriguing tidbit, courtesy of Susan Crabtree writing at the Washington Examiner:
“President Obama made sure there was no official watchdog supervising the State Department while Hillary Clinton was secretly sending her emails using a private server. The president has a duty to appoint independent inspectors general at every federal agency, but Obama left the position vacant at the State Department throughout Clinton’s entire four-year tenure…”
Oops!
Speaking of pathological liars, the Washington Examiner‘s Paul Bedard informs us how much The First Marxists have cost America in vacation dollars alone:
“Eat our wake, America; oh,…then pick up the tab!”
And in today’s Muslim Minute, a little reminder courtesy of Jim Gleaves:
Can anyone out there look at these photos of Afghanistan, Iran and Egypt circa 1967 and today and tell us with a straight face this constitutes progress?!? It’s retrogression…to the Middle Ages!
Since we’re on the subject of one of the most war-like periods in world history, it’s worth noting, as the Washington Examiner‘s Byron York relates, The Great Divider’s inextricably engaged in…
“The White House and some Democrats are livid over congressional Republican attempts to circumvent President Obama’s authority to make a nuclear arms deal with Iran. They have a right to be angry — but not to be surprised.
There’s a war going on between the executive and legislative branches in which Obama has shown contempt for Congress’ constitutional powers, and now, in response, Congress is showing contempt for the president’s constitutional powers. It’s an unfortunate situation, but it’s what Obama has wrought.
…Time after time, Obama has told Congress to go to hell. Now Congress is telling Obama to go to hell. It’s an entirely predictable development…”
Next up, in today’s installment of Tales From the Darkside, the WSJ‘s Bret Stephens offers an incredibly insightful analysis of…
“Darren Wilson has been exonerated, again, in last August’s shooting death of Michael Brown, and that ought to be as much a vindication for the onetime Ferguson, Mo., police officer as it is a teachable moment for the rest of America.
It won’t be. The story line has failed, so the statistics have been put to work.
…The lesson of Darren Wilson is that there is no truth in narrative. And the lesson of Ferguson is that there is no truth in statistics. There is truth in fact. There is truth in reason. There is truth in truthfulness. Nothing less.“
The truth? The Left…
Which brings us to The Lighter Side…
Finally, yet AnotherSign the Apocalypse is Upon Us, courtesy of Katherine Timpf and NRO:
“Earlier this week, the U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority directed Urban Outfitters to remove an underwear ad – claiming it was “irresponsible” and “harmful” because the model was so “unhealthily skinny” that girls might hate themselves if they saw it. How heroic! God bless these heroes and their fight against this body-shaming culture!
But wait a second. It’s not shaming to publicly proclaim that a girl’s body is so unacceptable that even looking at pictures of her “inner thigh gap” could harm other people? Harm them so severely that it was “irresponsible” of the company to have used it? It’s body-positive and feminist to confidently declare that you know a girl is unhealthy based on a single picture of her without any knowledge of her actual medical situation or who the hell she even is?
Are you people insane?…”
Yes, Katherine, they are insane; absolutely and utterly! And frankly, we prefer Door #2!
