“…The emails appear to show Lerner mistakenly received an invitation intended for Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, in 2012.
The event organizer, whose name is not disclosed, apparently offered to pay for Grassley’s wife to attend the event, which caught Lerner’s attention. The December 2012 emails show that in response, Lerner suggested to an IRS colleague that the case be referred for an audit. “Looked like they were inappropriately offering to pay for his wife. Perhaps we should refer to Exam?” she wrote…“
As the AEI‘s Stan Veuger notes…
“…The president, who feigned outrage initially, has moved on to calling the targeting scheme a “phony scandal” and has shown no interest in pushing for further investigations. House Republicans continue to try and uncover the truth, but have not been able to access emails sent and received by central figures in the case. They are gone, they now tell us, hard drives crashed and tapes were erased.
Should we believe that? Of the 82 IRS employees tied to the targeting operation, 7 had their email disappear, or 8.5%. According to IRS commissioner John Koskinen, the industry standard is 3 to 5%. Under reasonable statistical assumptions, that makes the IRS scandal disappearance rate about as likely as the emails having been eaten by unicorn, with a probability far smaller than 1%. Given the IRS’ track record in this affair, that is way beyond anything that would justify giving the IRS and Lois Lerner the benefit of the doubt, and it casts serious doubts on the administration’s claims that there is nothing to be seen here.“
Which explains why the most deceptive and opaque Administration in our nation’s history would appoint yet another incompetent, long-time Dimocratic Party operative to head the IRS instead of a qualified professional above any possible reproach. If the RNC has any clue at all (which we seriously doubt), this Progressive apparatchik’s face and responses should be plastered all over the television between now and November.
But, as the latest in the Philip North scandal proves, old tricks are the best tricks:
“…Ah, so the guy Issa’s been trying to subpoena for alleged criminal wrongdoing is living in a foreign country and ignoring his inquires. Meanwhile, the hard drive that might have stored potentially incriminating emails on it has conveniently “crashed.”
Any takers on what the third federal agency will be to accidentally “lose” relevant and potentially damaging internal emails? It’s only a matter of time.”
In a related item, courtesy of John Berry, Mark Steyn details one area where The Obamao has been supremely successful:

In that sense, the removal of the Washington Redskins’ trademark – their property rights – for disrespecting progressive ideology is a harbinger of things to come.
What a shame this ruthlessness is never extended to ISIS or the mullahs or Putin. But you have to be able to prioritize. America is a eunuch abroad but ever more despotic at home.”
The greater shame is the average American has absolutely no clue whatsoever it’s happening.

The Obama administration-driven calamity at this nation’s southern border is no naiveté-caused accident. Instead, it’s the latest manifestation of what clear-eyed observers must recognize is just one of many concerted attempts to overwhelm this nation’s institutions and its social, psychological and physical infrastructure for the apparent purpose of leaving it permanently weakened and fundamentally changed.
Conscious or not — and I would argue in most cases that it is quite conscious — what we’re seeing is a comprehensive application of the left’s long-championed Cloward-Piven strategy.

And in the Environmental Moment, courtesy of The Telegraph, yet another fact America’s MSM watchdogs deem unfit to print:
“When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data. There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data. In several posts headed “Data tampering at USHCN/GISS”, Goddard compares the currently published temperature graphs with those based only on temperatures measured at the time. These show that the US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record; whereas the latest graph, nearly half of it based on “fabricated” data, shows it to have been warming at a rate equivalent to more than 3 degrees centigrade per century…”
