(2). We were far more than surprised when we personally heard the Commandant of Midshipman, a combat-tested Marine full-bird Colonel, apologize to the leadership of the Brigade of Midshipmen and its sports teams for using male pronouns while repeating the words of John Lejeune, the longest-serving Commandant of the Marine Corps. Think about it: the Commandant of Midshipman is concerned the psyches of the nation’s future combat leaders might be adversely impacted by his use of male pronouns in a quote from 1888?!? We might all as well start learning Mandarin!!!
(3). We were more than deeply disappointed when in church this past Sunday we saw the words of Isaac Watts’ Joy to the World altered from “let men their songs employ” to “let all their songs employ”. In the interest of full disclosure, we’ve never preferred mindlessly repetitive praise songs over classic Christian hymns. Our inherent bias notwithstanding, we’ll need convincing the author of such remarkable works as, in addition to Joy to the World, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross and Our God, Our Help in Ages Past requires the editing services of a contemporary Christian songwriter.
Some Christians might allow the camel of carnality to continue poking more than its nose into their tent, but not this one.

…there’s NO DOUBT…as if there ever could be…of the truth of Christ’s words in Luke 10:12: Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgement than for that city.
Or nation.
Now, here’s The Gouge!
First up, in an amazing display of deliberate misgovernance we’d have thought, quite frankly, impossible…
“Governor Gavin Newsom delivered an early Christmas present this past week to Californians affected by high gasoline prices: a special session of the state legislature designed to punish oil companies for recent gasoline-price spikes.
A lump of coal — packed with the carbon of ages — would have been better.
The legislators — many elected just last month and sworn in minutes before the special session — listened while speakers denounced oil refiners as greedy, dishonest, and predatorial. They promised (the legislators did) to convene again in January to consider a proposal drafted by the governor and the state’s dean of green, Bay Area state senator Nancy Skinner (D., Berkeley). Her bill would hit refiners with a “price-gouging penalty” on excessive profits.“Excess” will, of course, be defined by state regulators.
“California’s price-gouging penalty is simple — either Big Oil reins in the profits and prices, or they’ll pay a penalty,” Newsom said in a press release.“Big Oil has been lying and gouging Californians to line their own pockets long enough.I look forward to the work ahead with our partners in the legislature to get this done.”
If anyone should be penalized for lying, gouging, and pocket-lining, it’s the State of California…”
In a related item, Jim Geraghty reports a scientific breakthrough that could…we emphasize COULD…change the world:
“…There’s a long way to go, and this is just the first step, but it is a key first step. The potential of this breakthrough is spectacular. A few months ago, Andrew Follett wrote here at NR that the development of fusion-energy production would effectively end the arguments about how the U.S. and the world can develop sufficient energy without producing carbon emissions that would exacerbate climate change.
“Fusion would be a game changer, as it lacks the public-relations problems that environmentalists have attached to conventional nuclear reactors: The process would generate essentially no hazardous waste and wouldn’t even require hazardous fuel,” Follett wrote. “Operational fusion power would probably be so efficient that it would permanently put most other forms of generating electricity out of business, as it would likely be ‘too cheap to meter.’”
I read a sentence like that and wonder A) how many people would like to sabotage the development of cold-fusion energy production because it would put their whole industry out of business and B) how many countries would like to ensure that they have an edge in turning this experimental breakthrough into widespread reality ahead of the United States. Or maybe I just saw too many Keanu Reeves thrillers back in the 1990s…”
Three thoughts immediately come to mind: (1) Even were fusion power to become a reality and readily accessible tomorrow, the world would still need massive amounts of oil for a variety of purposes, including aviation and diesel fuels, petrochemical feedstocks, plastics, lubricants, waxes, asphalt, road oil and host of other common, everyday uses and products; (2) Assuming the EnviroNazis will find no reason to object to a product which would inevitably lead to rapid, inexpensive industrial growth is quite a leap; and, (3) “Too cheap to meter” would only create a cost vacuum the government will be more than willing to fill with higher energy taxes.

“In a shocking development, Twitter was censoring conservatives. I am, of course, being sarcastic because everyone knew it, though some denied it. Now we have Twitter itself, under new management, giving a peek into just how deeply the deception ran. Allow me to bring some much-needed salt and reality to this conversation and point out how everyone seems to be missing the point, some deliberately, others not.
First – and again, forgive me – who cares about what we’ve seen released so far? I truly do believe in conservative principles which dictate a private company can do pretty much whatever it wants. They should, however, be honest about it. Twitter was not. At least under the old leadership.
That leadership should be investigated to see if any of them committed perjury. It’s not enough that they lied or misled, it’s whether or not they committed perjury. There’s a difference and that difference is important.
That difference, along with this story, is being exploited by some people more interested in promoting themselves than anything else in life. That’s fine, movements always have clowns. But the big picture here isn’t that some people were throttled, it’s who lied about it…”
And lied about it under oath.
Since we’re on the subject of purposeful, patent prevarication, FOX informs us the…
So fewer than 150,000 in a country of 46 million. And that’s including women and all men who are not between the ages of about 18 and 35, which is the approximate age window for players of this caliber. https://t.co/oSppma35R9
“Why doesn’t Argentina have more Black players in the World Cup?” the headline for [Associate Professor at UTEP Erika Denise] Edwards’ piece asked, with the subtitle, “Argentina is far more diverse than many people realize — but the myth that it is a White nation has persisted.”
She encouraged her Twitter followers to read her piece with the preview, “A history of Black erasure in Argentina!! Check out my article!”
Edwards argued Argentina stands “in stark contrast” to other South American countries such as Brazil in terms of Black representation. She said that while a 2010 census seemed to confirm for many that Argentina was a White nation, showing that less than one percent of the country was Black, history suggests otherwise.
Since its publication, the Washington Post has admitted an “editing error” in Edwards’ piece concerning the census data she cited. “Due to an editing error, an earlier version of this piece noted that roughly one percent of the Argentinian population was Black according to a 2010 government released census,” a correction at the top of the article now reads. “While the number of Black people cited was accurate, the percentage was actually far less than one percent and the piece has been amended to state that.”…”
In what will come as a shock to no one with the faintest understanding of Progressive thinking, the good professor continues to defend her propaganda piece.
For more on the subject of deliberate deception, we turn to Johns Hopkins’ Marty Makary, who expounds on…
“Long Covid is real. I have reliable patients who describe lingering symptoms after Covid infection. But public-health officials have massively exaggerated long Covid to scare low-risk Americans as our government gives more than $1 billion to a long Covid medical-industrial complex.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claimsthat 20% of Covid infections can result in long Covid. But aU.K. studyfound that only 3% of Covid patients had residual symptoms lasting 12 weeks. What explains the disparity? It’s often normal to experience mild fatigue or weakness for weeks after being sick and inactive and not eating well. Calling these cases long Covid is the medicalization of ordinary life.
…The NIH’s fear-mongering around long Covid has also been used to argue for keeping Covid restrictions in place. In November, the Biden administrationissued a reporton long Covid stating that mask mandates and vaccination “protect people from infection or reinfection and possible Long COVID,” despite no scientific evidence to support the claim.
Given the broad reach of population immunity to Covid today and the less severe nature of the illness, long Covid is less common and less severe than it was in 2020 or 2021. In my experience treating thousands of patients over two decades, people are forgiving if you are honest with them. If public-health officials want to regain the public trust, they should show more humility when it comes to Covid, including long Covid.“
Sorry, but through their continuing dishonesty, public health officials have made restoration of the public’s trust a task…

Moving on, here’s a sextet of special selections certain to sate the curiosity of inquiring Conservative minds:
(5). It’s not the fact former Dimocratic darling Sam Bankman-Fried has been arrested which has Andy McCarthy scratching his head; Rather it’s the timing and the conspiracy counts. The former because SBF was about to be grilled under oath on Capitol Hill (and one should never stop one’s opponent when they’re making mistakes), the latter because he’s the only one indicted thus far, and one cannot conspire with oneself.
Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:
Then there’s these from Balls Cotton…
…and George Lawlor…
…along with one we found quite funny:
Finally, we’ll call it a wrap with the Sports Section, and this follow-up on an earlier item detailing the NHL’s celebration of the first transgender hockey tournament which won’t surprise anyone with half a brain or a lick of common sense:
